I read a Huffington Post piece “Why Talking Openly About Money is Crucial, Not Crass,” and identified with what Jennifer Dziura wrote. She referenced salary transparency as a social justice issue. A social justice issue. This is the second article I’ve read this month making that point. It’s a sticky subject because we’ve been raised to believe money is not a polite topic of conversation. Many employers even forbid salary talk among employees. But, if we don’t know how we compare to our peers, how can we know if one group is being paid equitably to another? You can see how
Yep, another closet. Everywhere I turn, there they are. Even at Mom’s. Back in October I took a little trip to visit Mom in Wisconsin. It was too cold to enjoy the outdoors (26 degrees for my a.m. run), and Mom goes to bed early, so I was itching to find a project. My shopping options were limited since she lives in a small town. There was a dollar store, a Shopko, and down the road a hardware store. I made use of all three for this little fix-up. Mom and her dog, Beamer – they are a cute pair.
Because of the compact nature of my condo, even the real estate within my real estate is at a premium. I’m always looking for ways to eke out a little more storage space where I can. Well, I found a little space on the inside of the door to my coat closet. I have shoes hung on the inside of the master closet doors, so I thought hey, why not use the entry closet too? I installed two open top file boxes from the Container Store (also at most office supply stores; about $6 each) to serve as catch-alls. I
I ran the Mucus Mile last night – woot woot! Here’s how you sign up: get a nasty chest cold, don’t go to the doctor but rather be miserable and subject your friends and coworkers to incessant, unmannerly coughing for about a month, and then go for a run on a brisk evening. Voila! You’ve got your own phlegm-filled, coughing, runny-nose Mucus Mile. Seriously though, I’m in week 15 of a 9-week program. Makes perfect sense, right? It was October 6 when I started Couch to 5K…pretty much on a whim. The idea literally crossed my mind that morning and
The last makeup to land on my list is Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse. Maybelline claims this product will give you poreless skin and airbrushed perfection for normal skin. The Maybelline site also states that it’s oil-free, fragrance-free, dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and is safe for sensitive skin. That’s all good. There is no mention of SPF, so I’ll assume there is no sun protection. I have to apply a good amount of this product to get even coverage, but it feels light and is not sticky and provides fairly good coverage. I feel I still
