Product Review – Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse

The last makeup to land on my list is Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse. Maybelline claims this product will give you poreless skin and airbrushed perfection for normal skin. The Maybelline site also states that it’s oil-free, fragrance-free, dermatologist-tested, allergy-tested, non-comedogenic (won’t clog pores) and is safe for sensitive skin. That’s all good.

There is no mention of SPF, so I’ll assume there is no sun protection. I have to apply a good amount of this product to get even coverage, but it feels light and is not sticky and provides fairly good coverage. I feel I still need a concealer though. And although it looks good upon application, the “airbrushed perfection” must be for normal skin (as they state) and not for my combination skin as I feel pretty oily after 8 hours.

The only thing on my skin in the after shot is the liquid mousse. There is no blush, concealer, or finishing powder. I didn’t expect this product to cover and feel as well as it does. With a little concealer, this product is definitely on the usable list.

Here’s my take on the Maybelline New York Dream Liquid Mousse:
  • Skin Deep Score – 2 with limited data
  • How it Wears – lightweight; oily after several hours
  • Coverage – provides fairly good coverage but still need concealer
  • Cost – $10 for 1 ounce

Overall, I like this product. It provides some coverage, has a low Skin Deep score, and you can’t beat the price. The Jane Iredale BB Cream is my new product of choice, but the Maybelline Liquid Mousse is a strong second. If I’m in a pinch, it’s nice to know I can run to Walgreen’s and for $10 look just fine – I’ll need to remember the blotting tissues.
