Product Review: Jane Iredale Glow Time Full Coverage Mineral BB Cream

In my search for a non-toxic makeup that provides good coverage, I came across this Jane Iredale product. I’ve never used a BB cream before, and honestly I didn’t even know what a BB cream was. WebMD says the “BB” refers to blemish balm or beauty balm. BB creams in general are skin care/makeup hybrids that serve as your moisturizer, primer, sunscreen, concealer and foundation.

This product is an SPF 25, and that’s more than what a lot of moisturizers provide. We all know sun protection is so important. A little goes a long way with this cream – I applied much less of it than any other makeup I’ve used. It feels lighter than a traditional liquid makeup, but is just a bit sticky. I can’t run my hand across my face smoothly (but we’re not supposed to touch our faces anyway).

The BB cream provides great coverage and it works well with my combination skin. After 8 hours I feel just the slightest bit oily, but no more than if my face were au naturel. Also, I used a moisturizer under the cream. I haven’t tried this product solo to replace my moisturizer yet.

The only thing on my skin is the BB cream. There is no blush, concealer, or finishing powder. I didn’t expect this product to cover so well and am pleasantly surprised. I’ll be able to skip the concealer while using the BB cream.

Here’s the skinny on the Jane Iredale Glow Time BB Cream:

  • Skin Deep Score – 2 with limited data
  • How it Wears – lightweight; slightly sticky but finishing powder took care of that
  • Coverage – provides great coverage with the added benefit of SPF 25
  • Cost – $48 for 1.7 ounces

I really like this product. It provides the coverage I’m looking for, has a low Skin Deep score, and gives me sun protection as well. I also like that Jane Iredale products are certified cruelty-free by PETA – you know that scores big points with me! This may be my new go-to makeup.
